Rates and Fees at Bedford Psychologists
At Bedford Psychologists, the rate for therapy is $190 per hour for therapy - this is the recommended fee for all psychologists in the province and is set by the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia.
Note that the recommended rate in Nova Scotia will soon be increasing. On September 1st, 2021 our therapy fees will be $210.
Psycho-educational, ADHD, IQ, and Learning Disorder assessments are charged at a rate of $200 / hour. As is standard practice for psychologists, assessment fees are also charged for report writing, scoring, interviews, testing, and a feedback session.
Assessment fees will increase to $220 on September 1st, 2021.
University Students: Please check with your university health plan or student association - most schools in Nova Scotia provide 100% coverage for private practice psychologists!
Forms of Payment Accepted
Mastercard, Visa, Interac, and cash are accepted.
We do not charge an additional processing fee if you use a credit card. Furthermore, psychologists do not charge any additional taxes (e.g., HST, GST, etc). The final amount charged for service is exactly the rate as stated above - absolutely no extra taxes or charges.
Unfortunately, fees for psychologists (or therapists in general) in Nova Scotia are not covered by your general health plan (MSI). However, many insurance plans (whether private, through work or school, etc.) do cover psychological services. In general, if your insurance plan covers vision or dental care it is likely that you also have coverage for a psychologist. Please check with your insurance company if you are unsure of what your plan covers.
At tax time, you can claim your fees from Bedford Psychologists, so save your receipts. Fees can be claimed under the Medical Expense Tax Credit.
